Spectrum of histopathological findings in pediatric renal biopsies; a five-year single center experience in Egypt

Introduction: Medical renal diseases stand as one of the major health problems in pediatric age group considering its morbidity/mortality and subsequent management plans. Objectives: In this manuscript, spectrum histopathological patterns medical nephropathic lesions Egyptian patients over duration five years is reported with clinical indications. Patients Methods: We conducted a retrospective study for analysis our pathological reports needle biopsies during period from January 2014 until 2019. One hundred sixteen cases were included. Results: The most commonly encountered pathology was minimal change disease (27.59%), followed by congenital glomerular (22.41%), focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (12.93%), thrombotic microangiopathy (7.76%). common indication biopsy nephrotic syndrome (37.07%) impaired functions elevated serum creatinine (21.55%). addition, we report very rare histological findings few including infantile cystinosis, Barakat C3 glomerulopathy. Conclusion: Minimal accounted half pathologies population. syndrome. Electron microscopic examination genetic studies are mandatory proper evaluation nephropathies.
